This study proposed the use of techniques for geoprocessing and remote sensing in order to reach the following objectives: to generate a map for land use in São Lourenço Stream hydrographic basin by using images of CBERS-2 Satellite, to delimit and identify the land use conflict in its permanent preservation areas, having as legal reference the Forest Code and the 303/2002 CONAMA Resolution. The São Lourenço Stream hydrographic basin is placed on reloading areas of São Lourenço mineral water sources, located in south region of Minas Gerais State, Brazil. Results showed that pasturage is the preponderant use kind. Permanent preservation areas represent 33,46% of hydrographic basin total area, where 71,50% are under conflicting use. Non execution of law remains clear as well as the need of recomposing these areas with native vegetation.
